Base House Analytics

These analytics can help you make more effective choices when choosing upgrades. By making more informed choices and selecting fewer upgrade options, results will populate quicker and make sorting in Results much easier.

• Choose a component you would like to analyze the efficiency of and click the button that says "Analyze Efficiency"
• A loading spinner will appear and the calculation will begin.
• Once the calculation has been performed a message saying "Finished" will appear and the graph will load.

Envelope Explorer

• This graph displays diminishing returns on R-Value increases for envelope components and ACH decreases.
• The results will display whether a single envelope component can increase your performance and by how much.
• In the example above, this house would need a minimum effective R38 walls to increase to a Step 3 TEDI and does not change MEUI if we were to only add insulation to the above grade walls. This would generally be an impractical solution so additional components and combinations will need to be explored to increase performance.

Window Explorer

• This graph displays a spread of windows compared against each other relative to the performance of the house.
• The black dotted line represents the base house.
• Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) and thermal transmittance (U-Value) are dominant (but not the only) factors when considering window upgrades.
• Resulting dots indicate window constructions to consider.
• You can mouse over the dots to view additional info.
• In the example above, only a handful of very high performance windows can take us to Step 2 and beyond if we were to only change the windows. Depending on budge, other combinations may be preferable to increase performance.

Heating Explorer

• This graph displays a spread of heating systems compared against each other, relative to the MEUI performance of the home.
• The black dotted line represents the base house.
• This analytics tool can be used in client meetings or to quickly check how different heating systems will change the performance of the house.
• In the example above, the base house has a MEUI in the Step 4 range. Electric baseboards, gas boilers, or furnaces will put this house back to a Step 2 MEUI.
